The unit experienced a fire in July 2013. For details A nominal 50 kWh bank of Lithium-ion batteries packaged with a 75 kW inverter and open DR dispatch protocol was installed at a mall in downtown Port Angeles, WA. The storage bank can be charged or discharged via a remote signal by the local utility as a means for load shaping and Rapid Demand Response. The mall can also use the storage bank to peak shave when the storage is not used by the utility.
