Six large LG Chem lithium-ion battery storage units will be put into service at Steag power plants in Germany. The 100 million euro project will see 15 MW energy storage systems (ESS) installed in power stations at Herne, Lünen, Duisburg-Walsum, Bexbach, Fenne, and Weiher. Nidec ASI recently signed a contract worth over 70 million Euros with German utility STEAG for the supply of a multi system of energy storage with a total capacity of 90 MW. This system, based on Nidec ASI energy conversion solutions, will use batteries supplied by LG Chem to store electrical energy, which the utility will use to ensure the stability of Germany's electricity network.
